World Dance Day at Oak Park Community Center
Join us on Sunday, April 19 from 4–6p.m. at the Oak Park Community Center for a lively and inspiring celebration of dance from around the world! This event is FREE and open to the public, so bring your family and friends for an afternoon of movement, culture, and community.
World Dance Day (also known as International Dance Day) was first celebrated in 1982. April 29 was chosen to honor the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, a pioneering French ballet master. The purpose of this global celebration is to promote dance in schools and communities, and to give everyone the opportunity to experience and participate in the art of dance.
The City of Oak Park and the Oak Park Arts and Cultural Diversity Commission are proud to continue this wonderful tradition each year on or around the National Day of Celebration. We’re excited to celebrate the beauty of dance and culture.
