Join us as we honor Juneteenth, the historic celebration of freedom and the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Observed on June 19th, Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the last group of enslaved people in Galveston, Texas — over two years after it was issued.

The Wright Museum’s Juneteenth 2025 celebration will be a day filled with activities that recognize the significance of this pivotal moment in history and its enduring impact on the struggle for equality and justice. The event brings together people of all backgrounds to reflect, celebrate, and continue the journey towards freedom.
