Eligibility

Youth twenty-one years of age and younger, who were adopted from Michigan’s foster care system or who were adopted in Michigan through an international adoption or a direct consent/direct placement adoption and children who were placed in guardianship through Michigan’s foster care system that are eligible for guardianship assistance through the DHHS adoption subsidy office.

Case Management

PARC staff will contact you within 24 hours of a referral being made to schedule a visit, which will be held at your home or where most convenient for you and at a time most convenient for you.  At the first visit the PARC staff will work with you to identify the strengths and needs of your family, and use that information to develop an initial family-centered plan. Short-term (6-8 weeks) emergency interventions for families in crisis or at risk of disruption for whom prompt response by the local community mental health agency or other appropriate community based agency is not available.

Flexible monies and linkage to community resources will be used to assist in implementing an intervention designed to address a specific need of your family.

Information Dissemination

PARC’s professional staff will act as a liaison for your family with other service providers to assist with the coordination of services that are identified to be of benefit. to the family and support. PARC works on a one-to-one basis to refer families to local and regional resources such as therapists, Special Educational services, Medicaid, Medical Subsidy, Children’s Special Health Care Services, Supplemental Social Security, Community Mental Health Services, and other similar supportive services.

Adoptive Family Support

Monthly groups for adoptive parents and the adopted children. The group experience reflects the interests of the family participants. These experiences include traditional support groups, retreats, recreational experiences, tutoring, and mentoring.

Quarterly trainings include accessing community resources, improving communication, self-esteem, problem solving, mental health diagnosis, therapeutic techniques, medication, parenting, and other topics of interest to adoptive families.
